Modern systems.
Better legal delivery.
Technology is integral to how Alastair Purdy LLP works. We invest in digital systems and specialist software to increase capacity, improve efficiency and make legal services more responsive, while preserving the experience and professional judgement clients expect.
Discover our approachProgress is not measured by the tools we adopt.
It is measured by the service we deliver.
Better systems. Less routine administration. More attention to the work that matters.
It began in 2019.
It did not end with paper.
In 2019, Alastair Purdy LLP reassessed the systems behind its legal service delivery. Over a six-month period, the firm moved its working files from traditional paper-based processes into digital systems.
The move established a foundation for searchable information, electronic briefs, document management, version control and more efficient collaboration. It also prompted a broader question: how can technology reduce unnecessary work and give our lawyers more time to advise clients?
Our digital approach continues to evolve. Today, we focus on selecting software and improving workflows for practical reasons: better access to information, more consistent delivery, improved turnaround and capacity to support clients as their needs develop.
A new foundation
Transition to digital working files and paperless processes.
Connected workflows
Digital matter management, electronic documents and collaborative processes.
Continuous improvement
Assessing opportunities for appropriate automation and emerging technologies.
Tools chosen for the work they do.
Our focus is on practical applications that improve the way legal matters are organised, reviewed and progressed.
Organised digital files
Searchable electronic records and structured matter information support continuity, access to documents and more efficient handling of legal work.
Drafting and review
Document assembly, version control and electronic briefs help streamline routine steps and support the accurate management of substantial materials.
Working without friction
Electronic exchange, digital workflows and electronic signatures, where suitable, reduce unnecessary physical circulation and administrative delay.
Automation with purpose
We continue to assess opportunities to automate repetitive processes and evaluate emerging tools, including AI, where the benefits and safeguards justify their use.
Less administration.
More capacity for advice.
Technology is a means to an end. Its value lies in helping our lawyers work efficiently, communicate clearly and focus on the legal and commercial issues that require professional attention.
Workflows designed to reduce avoidable delay in preparing, reviewing and circulating documents.
Accessible digital matter records and consistent processes support collaboration between our advisers.
Less routine administration means more time for analysis, strategic judgement and client engagement.
New technology.
Established professional standards.
Artificial intelligence has the potential to assist legal professionals and make established processes more efficient. It also presents risks, including inaccurate results and the handling of sensitive information.
We approach AI by reference to the task, the safeguards required and the need to preserve independent legal judgement. Our published Responsible AI Statement explains the principles guiding that approach.
Read our Responsible AI StatementResponsibility for advice remains with qualified lawyers.
AI-assisted work calls for appropriate independent review.
Client information demands careful treatment in any technology environment.
We assess tools for their suitability, not their novelty.
Paperless remains part of the story.
Digital working enables efficient document storage and handling, and can reduce routine printing and the movement of physical files. Original documents and statutory or professional retention requirements still receive the treatment they require.
Standards do not change with software.
Our use of technology must remain consistent with confidentiality, data protection, accurate legal work and effective professional oversight. Those obligations apply irrespective of the systems involved.
